Who doesn’t love space potatoes? (Asteroids, of course!) This year has seen two missions succeed: Hayabusa-2 returned home with samples collected in 2018 from asteroid Ryugu; Osiris-Rex completed its sample collection from asteroid Bennu and will be back on Earth in 2023. pic.twitter.com/5RbH…

China marks another milestone, having planted their country’s flag on the Moon. The feat was accomplished by the Chinese Chang’e-5 lander, and the mission included a lunar soil sample return. pic.twitter.com/dJE2…

Not 1, not 2, but 3 missions are currently on their way to Mars, with arrivals at the red planet expected from February 2021 onwards: the HOPE orbiter launched by the UAE; the Chinese Tianwen-1 orbiter, lander and rover; and NASA’s Mars 2020 rover mission. pic.twitter.com/BBxM…

“The vast loneliness up here of the Moon is awe-inspiring & it makes you realize just what you have back there on Earth. The Earth from here is a grand oasis to the big vastness of space”— Astronaut Jim Lovell #OTD in 1968, 'Earthrise' was photographed: go.nasa.gov/3nOWKam pic.twitter.com/yeIh…
